Borrowing a DV Camera, Video Edit Suites

Students can book the  Panasonic DV camerasr by phoning LRAT on 0121 415 8041 between 8.30am and 6pm Mon-Fri.

Loan equipment should be collected from and returned to LRAT's main stores underneath the Great Hall on the Edgbaston Campus. Access is from the rear of the Aston Webb bullding - see our contact us page for directions.

The maximum loan period is one week.  Damage or loss up to a maximum of £500 is the responsibility of the borrower. All DV camera loans require a letter or email of academic sponsorship form your tutor, as these cameras are for academic purposes only.

Important Changes to Video-Editing Suites

There are now two dedicated video-editing suites, numbers 1 and 2. Format migration has been moved to Suite 3. Both suites 1 and 2 feature Apple Mac Pros running OSX Lion 10.7, 6GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Suite 2 is equipped with Final Cut Pro X and Suite 1 features the simpler iMovie.

Work should be saved to a users specially created folder on HardDisk 1. This disk is mirrored to a second disk ias an emergency backup,

Each Mac is partnered with a professional Mini-DV tape player. Content can also be laid off straight from various types of cameras.

The video edit suites are bookable through the Main Library IT Service Desk . Please ensure that you book the right suite for your project.
